Moisturisers
What is a moisturiser?
A moisturiser is a face cream designed specifically to hydrate the surface layers of the face. By replenishing moisture, it plays a critical role in maintaining skin’s health and vitality.
Benefits of moisturisers
Skin Hydration
Moisturisers are essential for keeping the skin hydrated, preventing skin dryness, and maintaining moisture balance throughout the day.
Skin Protection
By forming a protective layer on the skin, moisturisers shield against environmental pollutants and the sun's harmful rays.
Soothing Effects
Especially beneficial for sensitive skin types, moisturisers can calm irritation and reduce redness, offering soothing relief.
Improved Skin Tone
Regular application of moisturisers can enhance skin tone, promoting an even, smooth complexion.
Skin Brightening
Some moisturisers contain brightening ingredients that work to reduce the appearance of dark spots and revive dull skin.
Protection From The Sun
Many moisturisers include SPF, providing essential protection against UV radiation and preventing sun damage.
Skin Repair
Supporting the skin's natural repair process, moisturisers improve the skin barrier function and overall skin health.
How to apply moisturiser?
1. Cleanse Your Face: Start with a clean base by washing your face with a gentle cleanser to remove impurities, oil, and makeup. This ensures your skin is prepped and ready to absorb the moisturiser.
2. Dry Your Skin: Pat your face dry with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing your skin, as this can cause irritation.
3. Apply Moisturiser: Take a pea-sized amount of moisturiser onto your fingertips. Dot it evenly on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin to distribute the product.
4. Spread Evenly: Gently spread the moisturiser over your face using upward and outward strokes. This technique helps to lift the skin rather than drag it down.
5. Extend to Your Neck: Apply moisturiser to your neck with upward strokes. The skin on your neck is delicate and should not be neglected in your skincare routine.
6. Use Eye Cream (Optional): If you use a separate eye cream, apply it carefully around your eyes. Use your ring finger to gently tap the product into the skin, as this area is particularly sensitive.
7. Wait Before Applying Makeup: Allow the moisturiser to fully absorb into your skin for a few minutes before applying sunscreen or makeup. This helps ensure your skin is fully hydrated and creates a smooth base for makeup.
How to pick the right moisturisers?
Before picking the right moisturiser, you should determine your skin type. We have a skin type test to help you determine your skin type!
For oily skin , you should avoid oil-based moisturisers and look for water-based or gel moisturisers. As for dry skin type , try to look for a thick moisturiser such as a cream-based moisturiser. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and dimethicone also help tackle dry skin issues and provide the skin with the necessary hydration. It is important to choose a hypoallergenic moisturisers that are free of fragrance or paraben for people with sensitive skin as these ingredients would easily irritate fragile skin. Severe cases might cause rash or redness to the face.
